The profession of private research agent
Article L621-1 of the French Internal Security Code stipulates that the liberal profession of private investigator consists in « gathering information and intelligence for third parties, with a view to defending their interests, without citing his/her capacity or revealing the purpose of his/her work ».
Private detectives must abide by the Code of Ethics adopted by decree n° 2012-870 of 10 July 2012. They must at all times carry out investigations that are both legal and legitimate.
As part of a legal procedure, attorneys don’t necessarily do investigations on their own and will often hire a private investigator to conduct any useful type of customized research with a view to protecting their client’s rights and interests.
Should such a situation arise, GALAAD Private Investigation would become one of the major actors involved in the process by boosting the effectiveness of the rights of defence.
To be able to play his full role, the investigator necessarily holds confidential information and is bound by shared professional secrecy under his contractual relationship with the attorney.
As a consequence, any unauthorized disclosure of confidential information constitutes a serious breach of professional ethics, and may be considered a criminal offence (violation of professional secrecy under article 226-13 of the French Criminal code).
Once our investigation is completed, we produce an in-depth, accurate and comprehensive report substantiated with relevant photos admissible in court.
